David Adler - Author Visit

We are excited about our upcoming visit from famous author, David Adler! He will be available to sign books for students on the day of his visit. We have the opportunity to purchase many of his books at a significant discount. This is not a fundraiser, just a bonus for having him visit with us at Wolf Swamp! The flyer should have come home recently, or feel free to check it out here to see if you'd like to purchase some of the books.

How cool will it be for our children to read some of David Adler's books and then MEET and TALK with him in person! Thanks to Lynn Adzima, our literacy specialist, for putting this special event together.

Spread the Word Book Drive

Did you know that schools in poor neighborhoods generally don’t have a school book fair? This is because companies like Scholastic can’t make enough money to make it worth them coming to these schools. So the kids are missing out on the opportunity to access more affordable books and the school doesn’t reap the rewards of books for their libraries & classrooms that come thru book fair points. Did you know that libraries in poor neighborhoods are open fewer days a week and fewer hours per day?

Think of the joy your children get when they receive a new book or head to the library for a book to read. Will you help us bring that joy to kids at Boland Elementary School this year? Please consider donating a new or gently used book for a child in PreK to 5th grade.

What to donate: Books at the Preschool - 5 reading level (Please no text books or used work books.)

Where to donate: Books can be dropped off at the Wolf Swamp Road School lobby and placed in the box labeled "Spread The Word Book Collection."

Dates of collection: Monday, April 1st thru Monday, May 6th

Who will receive the books: Students at Boland Elementary School in Springfield. Boland School is located in a very high poverty district. School staff are excited at the idea of distributing the books collected to their 800 students.

Please check out the flyer for more information on this important program.

Volunteers are needed to help collect & sort the books. If you are able to help, please contact Judy at jmcherichetti@gmail.com or 413-726-4613.
